Toll Group, a global logistics leader, is on the lookout for a highly experienced, strategic, Senior HR professional to navigate the intricacies of our billion dollar Resources and Industrials Division. This operations-driven role calls for a combination of hands-on, analytics prowess, pro-active customer centricity, creative problem solving, detail orientated and the interpersonal ability to help enable strategic focus on how we Care, Compete and Grow the business.

This role will be a key member of the Australian HR team and will lead 10 direct reports and will work together as one Toll People and Culture team. Enabling solutions that assist our operational teams with efficiency and effectiveness across the HR lifecycle of process, systems and compliance is a key focus. Bring your superior relationship building skills and coach and support your team of 10 and your R&I operational leaders to reach their full potential.

Primary Accountabilities:

  • Support the enablement of the business strategy, aligning HR components with strategic priorities for Care, Compete, and Grow.
  • Enhance engagement and culture through collaboration with the Resources and Industrials leadership team.
  • Support change initiatives within the HR components of the R&I business, including acquisitions, internal growth, integrations, and exits.
  • Provide expert advice on HR policy and process, recruitment, workplace behaviours, employee relations, reward and recognition, learning and development, and industrial relations.
  • Administer employment, labour, and employee relations for bargaining and non-bargaining unit employees, compensation, benefits, performance management, and workforce planning.
  • Lead negotiations, interpretation, and application of collective agreements, ensuring compliance across Toll.
  • Drive efficiencies through data insights and analysis, assisting with HR Change agenda initiatives.

Skills Essential to the Job:

Technical:

  • Strong knowledge in employment law, labour relations, salary administration, performance management, and training.
  • Robust Industrial Relations background, including negotiations and application of collective agreements.
  • Proficient with HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, Preceda, Kronos, Oracle, SAP) & Microsoft Office Suite applications.

Business:

  • Demonstrated experience at a senior HRBP level.
  • Commercial focus in providing advice & recommendations to the business.
  • Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills.

Human Relations:

  • Superior verbal, listening, and communication skills.
  • Strong data insights management and Excel experience.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective support and rapport with personnel at all levels.

Top 10 Tips for Interview 

  1. Keep your mind and body, relaxed.
  2. Never try to give a long answer to an interview question. Keep your answer short and effective.
  3. If you don’t know the answer to any question, do not try to mislead the interviewer because he knows everything. Here your answer should be just some simple words “Sorry Sir/Ma’am, I do not know the answer”.
  4. Your dress should be formal. The formal dress always leaves a good impact on the interviewer.
  5. Take permission from the interviewer before going inside the interview room by saying “May I come in Sir/Madam?”.
  6. Do not shake your leg and hand again and again.
  7. Your clothes should be neat and clean.
  8. If the interviewer asks the question in English/Hindi, you should answer in the same language. If you are not comfortable in that language, you should ask your interviewer “I am not comfortable in English/Hindi. Sir, Can I answer in ‘your comfortable language’”.
